Pfarrkirchen. At its traditional Christmas and end-of-year celebration at the “Steakhouse”, the table tennis section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen looked back briefly, also looked ahead and, above all, held the awards ceremony of the 2023 club championship, enjoying good company – the board’s warm thanks went to all players, officials and helpers.
The atmospheric start was an outdoor reception around a fire bowl with fruit punch and mulled wine. Inside, section head Wilhelm Kolb welcomed the “table tennis family” and greeted – among the active members, partners, youngsters and fellow trainees – TuS chairman Horst Lackner as well as the half-marathon helpers Doris Tandler and Grit Hedwig.
Kolb thanked everyone committed to the sport, the board and conviviality for their support: among others deputy chair Beate Brand, secretary and men’s team captain Peter Wolfrum, treasurer Marion Fuchs (membership administration), youth leader, team captain and coach Felix Moschenski – as well as the patron of the club championship for his donation, Hans Fuchs for the fire bowl and Jonas Lindinger for the Christmas playlist.
With a view to the sociable evening, the section head kept the review short: in the 2024/25 season the TT section has two teams in competition.
The men’s team – captain Peter Wolfrum, Marius Jarzombski, Jonas Lindinger, Erwin Wimmer (reserves: Matthias Kolb, Reinhard Kroll, Reiner Appelt) – is in 5th place after the first half of the season in Bezirksklasse B, Group 8 Rottal (10 clubs) and wants to extend the gap to the bottom in the second half.
The Under-19 youth team – Leo Wagner, Samuel Porschen, Nico Bauer, David Moschenski – is in 3rd place at the end of the first half of Bezirksklasse A, Group 3 South (6 clubs) and wants to attack the better-placed teams in the second half. Also important: the section’s involvement in catering at the Sparkasse TuS half marathon!
TuS chairman Horst Lackner thanked the players and volunteers of the TT section for their commitment. He highlighted the half marathon as a major event for the whole club and warmly thanked the TT catering team – Beate Brandl, Hans and Marion Fuchs, Gerhard Erl, Felix Moschenski plus Doris Tandler and Grit Hedwig. Given the current situation of club life, he strongly encouraged greater participation in the sections and the main club, more help from members at such events and higher attendance at meetings.
Under the motto “plan ahead now!”, Wilhelm Kolb announced two events beyond the regular section dates: the 17th Sparkasse TuS half marathon, with start/finish and catering at the racecourse, will take place in 2025 as early as Sunday, 6 April. And “with special TT relevance”, the German Table Tennis Association’s “table tennis mobile” will visit the primary school on Thursday, 26 June 2025 to get the fourth-grade children excited about the sport.
TuS chairman Horst Lackner and deputy section head Beate Brandl presented the awards of the exciting club championship, congratulating the winners as they handed over cups, medals and certificates: new club champion Marius Jarzombski, Jonas Lindinger (2nd) and Peter Wolfrum (3rd) – as well as doubles winners Jonas Lindinger/Marius Jarzombski and runners-up David Moschenski/Erwin Wimmer.
Section head Wilhelm Kolb also congratulated everyone and expressed his appreciation for their dedication. Christmas carols sung together framed the programme and the meal. Peter Wolfrum enriched the celebration with the touching story of “The Four Candles” – peace, faith, love and hope. To close the official celebration, everyone sang “Silent Night, Holy Night!”.
Section head Wilhelm Kolb and TuS chairman Horst Lackner wished all members of the TT section and their families a merry and peaceful Christmas as well as much luck, success and health in the new year – and sporting success to the teams!
