Pfarrkirchen. The TT section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen and the table tennis support association (TTF, school and competitive sport) held a “table tennis taster day” at the primary school for the four classes 4a to 4d in the Alexi sports hall, in order to inspire the girls and boys for the “fastest ball-return sport” – this taster session was clearly great fun for the roughly 95 schoolchildren in total. At the start with class 4c (class teacher Vanessa Beck), TTF instructor Elena Sussmann also welcomed headmaster Gerhard Gillhuber, TT section head Wilhelm Kolb and Wigbert Bichlmeier as well as TTF chairman Bernhard Stüwe. She thanked the head teacher and the class teachers for enabling the children to have the “table tennis lesson,” and the TT section and its head for organising and providing the equipment. “Together we want to awaken the children’s interest in our sport and inspire as many as possible at this age for table tennis,” Sussmann explained; table tennis equally promotes agility, quick reactions, sharpness and the ability to concentrate – “and it’s also great fun.” The TTF instructor also introduced the children to table tennis in a local context: children’s/youth training and singles/team sport at the TT section of TuS – school sport and additional performance training at the TTF. Elena Sussmann ran the taster day together with her colleague Andrea Secerov (TT coach at the TTF and the TuS TT section) – Wigbert Bichlmeier (TuS TT section) supported the two. All those involved wished the schoolchildren much enjoyment. In a “demonstration round,” Elena Sussmann and Andrea Secerov introduced the table tennis course – nine sections: stations for ball feel and handling the bat, various playing variations from solo to four players, practice at the TT robot table under the guidance of coach Andrea Secerov and, as the highlight, “target shooting.” The coaches arranged the taster sessions of classes 4a (class teacher Kristina Göger), 4b (class teacher Dorith Hasenschwanz) and 4d (class teacher Anja Drechsler) in a similar way. The children joined in eagerly and had great fun with the TT taster training. In the “target shooting” at a row of flip targets, in which the teachers acted as scorekeepers, the class winners were determined in each case; the best girls and boys received small presents from the coaches. In addition, all the children were given information about “table tennis in Pfarrkirchen,” training opportunities and the “mini-championships,” so that the enjoyment of the TT sport can continue.
