The youth are in front in the anniversary year: Marvin Fischer club champion… Review of the first half of the 2016/17 season and prospects.
Pfarrkirchen. Table tennis at its finest with very tight “duels” between “youth and experience” for point, set and match provided high tension at the club championship of the TT section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen in the Alexi hall – in the end the youth had the better of it: club champion in the TT anniversary year 2016 is Marvin Fischer (boys I) – the awards ceremony took place at the Christmas party in the Gasthof “Schachtl”.

Under the “everyone against everyone” system, with plenty of tension and fun in the table tennis sport, that is what makes the club championship appealing. The open draw is good for surprises. To open the tournament in the jubilee year “50 yrs. TT section”, deputy section head Beate Brandl welcomed TuS chairman Horst Lackner and the patron, Kurt Vallée. They wished the table tennis players exciting contests and much success. Erwin Wimmer and Simon Wasmeier took on the tournament management. Wigbert Bichlmeier once again provided catering for the participants and guests.
The draw had already produced interesting constellations in the three groups – the generational duel shaped this tournament. The final round was reached by Elias Hölzl and Marvin Fischer (both boys I / men 2), Daniel Moschenski (boys II), Peter Wolfrum and Marius Jarzombski (both men I) as well as Simon Wasmeier (men II). Right at the start came the cracker between Wolfrum and Jarzombski, which Wolfrum decided for himself 3:1 in sets. In the “key match”, as later became clear, Fischer beat Wolfrum in straight 3:0 sets – a big surprise! Wasmeier lost very narrowly 2:3 to Fischer, and after his defeat in the first round thus had no more chance of victory. Hölzl, burdened with a defeat from the group phase, won his matches against Wasmeier and Moschenski. It became particularly exciting for the last round: Fischer, on championship course with four wins, had to play against Jarzombski, who no longer had any chance of the tournament win – with a win Fischer would be tournament winner. Wolfrum and Hölzl had 3:1 wins on their account; in the event of a Fischer defeat both could become champion depending on the outcome (also sets). In the “old against young” duel there were wonderful rallies and exciting sets. Jarzombski kept the tournament open with a hard-fought 3:2 win against Fischer (now 4:1 wins, 14:7 sets). In the parallel match Wolfrum beat Hölzl 3:1, also reaching 4:1 wins at 12:5 sets (also 7 sets to the good). So the championship was decided by the head-to-head, which Fischer had won clearly 3:0. Third place was also hard-fought: Hölzl stayed ahead with 3:2 wins and 12:8 sets ahead of Jarzombski (also 3:2 wins, but a poorer set ratio of 11:10). Wasmeier came fifth with 1:4 matches and Moschenski finished the tournament sixth. In the other places: Albert Gschwandtner, Uwe Neubauer, Felix Moschenski, Hannah Mayerhofer, Armin Siebengartner, Matthias Kolb and Horst Benzing. In a convivial gathering in the hall there was still cheerful celebrating – and everyone agrees: it was a really lovely and very exciting tournament! The board warmly thanks all the helpers.
At the Christmas party of the TT section in the Gasthof “Schachtl”, section head Wilhelm Kolb and TuS chairman Horst Lackner conducted the awards ceremony and congratulated on the sporting achievements – patron Kurt Vallée was committed in another capacity, but had conveyed his best regards and congratulations. Marvin Fischer received his winner’s trophy and the first prize, Peter Wolfrum and Elias Hölzl the second and third prize – all participants received the corresponding certificate for their placing. TuS chairman Horst Lackner expressed his recognition to the players for their sporting achievements as well as to the board, coaches and supervisors for their commitment. He wished the teams a successful second half of the season.
Section head Wilhelm Kolb conveyed the essence of the summary of the first half of the season for the men’s teams prepared by Reinhard Kroll: the “1st team” (Manfred Schille, Peter Wolfrum, Marius Jarzombski, team captain Reinhard Kroll and others) never really got going in the very strong 1st district league and in the end, in seventh place, fell short of expectations. The 2nd team – with the youngsters Elias Hölzl and Marvin Fischer as well as Armin Siebengartner and team captain Simon Wasmeier in the regular line-up – continued its high flight after promotion, now in the 2nd district league, and reached a great 2nd place with 12:6 points. The 3rd team – Georg Romeis, Simon Hölzl from the youth, team captain Walter Fischer, Jonas Lindinger and others, Martin Schneider and from the youth Heinrich Sparwasser – naturally had a hard time after promotion in the 3rd district league South; 4:14 points, meaning currently 9th place, but it is tight at the bottom and nothing is lost yet. The newly formed 4th team fielded nine players in the 4th district league North; a fixed line-up was not to be expected either, since many active players are listed here who would all like to play now and then; with 6:14 points they are probably roughly on target; here too the youth are positively represented, again Heinrich Sparwasser as well as Markus Gyetko; and the “Jagdhuber family” once more showed their ability. Perhaps the team can add a little more in the second half of the season. Compared with the previous year, then, a considerably more difficult season after two promotions, in which the “second team” is best placed in the race. From next season the cards will probably be reshuffled towards the future with young players who performed successfully at the club championship – there are prospects.
Youth leader Hannah Mayerhofer and her deputy Simon Wasmeier drew up the balance sheet for the “TT youngsters”. The boys I team (team supervisor Walter Fischer) is doing well in the 1st district league – in 3rd place with 16:4 points, that is something; even better placed is the boys II team (supervisor Felix Moschenski) in the 1st district league, namely as “winter champions” with 14:0 points; unfortunately, at the bottom of the 1st district league, the newly formed boys III team finished the first half of the season and has to be relegated – but in the 2nd district league successes will be achievable. The youth leadership thanked all the players who helped out at the mini championship with small gifts.
Section head Wilhelm Kolb thanked the board members and the youth leadership for their help. Deputy section head Beate Brandl expressed her heartfelt thanks to Stefanie Kolb (keyboard) for the wonderful musical accompaniment and framing of the party, during which Christmas carols were also sung together, and presented a gift.
