Pfarrkirchen. Children enjoy table tennis and a competition like this, as was shown once again at the local round of the mini championship, which the TT section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen hosted in the Alexi hall – even if, despite various publicity measures, the number of participants this time unfortunately fell short of expectations and past experience. All the more do the thanks of section head Wilhelm Kolb go for the organisation and running to both tournament director Gerhard Erl and deputy section head Beate Brandl as well as youth leader Hannah Mayerhofer and her deputy, youth coach Simon Wasmeier, and the youngsters of the table tennis section, who acted as scorers. “Every child who comes is interested in our table tennis sport and is important to us,” all agreed. It was also nice that parents stayed on – they were not sparing with applause for effort and performance. Only girls and boys who had not yet taken part in official competition were eligible to enter. In the end the participants received not only a certificate but also a gift, and for first to third place also a trophy – sponsored by the local VR-Bank, represented by authorised officer Franz Zehentreiter. Together with him the youth leadership conducted the awards ceremony. The VR-Bank Rottal-Inn has the thanks of the section head for its support. The top four in each age group qualify for the next higher tournament at district level, which will take place in February 2017 in Bad Füssing.
