Qualification for the “Lower Bavarian”
The 1st men’s team of the TT section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen, in the line-up of Manfred Schille, Peter Wolfrum and Marius Jarzombski, has won the final round of the cup championship in the Rottal table tennis district, held in Pocking – and thereby secured its participation in the cup final at regional level.
Eight teams had qualified for this district cup final round: LAC Arnstorf 1978 II and III, TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen I, SV Pocking 1892 II, TSV Triftern 1895 II, SV Zeilarn I and III – as well as the 1st team of TSV Tann, which ultimately did not turn up.
In the quarter-final, TuS Pfarrkirchen won 5:0 against the 2nd team of SV Pocking – a clear result which the Pfarrkirchen players nevertheless had to fight hard for in four four-set matches and one match over five sets. In the semi-final, the district-town players were able to prevail against Zeilarn’s “first” team 5:2.
In the final, TuS Pfarrkirchen beat the 2nd team of LAC Arnstorf, likewise 5:2 – a somewhat “closer” encounter than one might think. But after Arnstorf had taken the lead, Wolfrum, Jarzombski and Schille, who was not rattled by LAC’s second match win, each took the fifth point in the fourth set to give Pfarrkirchen the cup victory.
As host, SV Pocking, which by now traditionally stages the cup final of the Rottal table tennis district, once again organised and ran this tournament excellently – warm thanks for that go to TT section head Bernhard Altendorfer and his team from all the teams!
As cup winners of the Rottal table tennis district, the 1st team of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen, which last achieved this in 2012, is once again qualified for participation in the Lower Bavarian cup final round, which will be held on 1 March 2015 in Triftern. – lb
