Manfred Schille succeeds in a double title defence. End-of-year celebration of the TuS table tennis section: review and prospects.
Pfarrkirchen. The club championship of the table tennis section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen in the Alexi gymnasium offered exciting sport right up to top-class “duels” for set and victory – in the singles Manfred Schille triumphed once again, after he had likewise once more won the doubles competition, this time together with Simon Wasmeier.
The appeal of this club championship comes both from the broad field of participants of all age groups and from the open draw behind the group heads – excitement and fun are guaranteed every time. Together with the patron of the tournament, 3rd mayor Kurt Vallée, TT section head Wilhelm Kolb welcomed the participants. “It’s great that there’s so much going on here in table tennis”, Vallée noted with pleasure. After tournament director Gerhard Erl signalled the completion of the draw, it could begin – the section head and the patron wished the players and the one female participant much success.
First the doubles competition: the pairing of Manfred Schille/Simon Wasmeier prevailed in the final against the combination of Marius Jarzombski/Albin Abdulahu – the winners had knocked Peter Wolfrum/Gregor Jarzombski out of the competition in the semi-final, while the runners-up had reached the final through their win over Uwe Neubauer/Matthias Kolb.
This time the draw for the singles tournament brought interesting groups together – all to the good and conducive to excitement. From the groups, Marius Jarzombski (A1) and Albin Abdulahu (A2), Peter Wolfrum (B1) and Gregor Jarzombski (B2), as well as Reinhard Kroll (C1) and Manfred Schille (C2) advanced to the final round. It was only in the group stage that the eventual tournament winner had a “dip”: Andreas Maier managed to beat Manfred Schille.
In the final round, “Manni” stayed on the road to success, having some trouble only against Peter Wolfrum, and won all his matches: place 1 with 5:0 points, Manfred Schille! Just behind him with 4:1 points as runner-up the never-give-up Peter Wolfrum, ahead of Marius Jarzombski with 3:2 points in 3rd place – further in the top ten: 4. Gregor Jarzombski, 5. Reinhard Kroll, 6. Albin Abdulahu, 7. Johannes Apfel, 8. Uwe Neubauer, 9. Simon Wasmeier, 10. Armin Siebengartner.
“Gripping encounters and great table tennis – simply superb”, agreed patron Kurt Vallée and TuS chairman Horst Lackner, for instance about the matches Wolfrum – Jarzombski M. and Schille – Wolfrum. The other matches too were in part quite something. The awards ceremony was carried out by the patron and the TuS chairman together with section head Wilhelm Kolb: for the top places there were trophies and small sweet gifts – with the presentation of the large challenge trophy to the 2013 club champion, Manfred Schille, the tournament officially ended. There was still joint celebrating in a cheerful get-together. Section head Wilhelm Kolb warmly thanked the diligent helpers: Manfred Schille for organisation and preparation, Gerhard Erl for the smooth running of the tournament, and Wigbert Bichlmeier for the impeccable refreshments.
The completed first half of the 2013/14 season and a look ahead were the focus at the Christmas and end-of-year celebration of the TuS TT section at the country inn “Zur Hecke”. For this too, section head Wilhelm Kolb warmly welcomed, in the group of active and passive members, the TuS chairman Horst Lackner and the patron of the TT club championship, 3rd mayor Kurt Vallée. He also welcomed board members Beate Brandl (youth manager), treasurer Andreas Maier and secretary Gregor Jarzombski, also as team captain of men’s team II – as well as team captains Reinhard Kroll (men’s team I), Kristina Kurz (men’s team III), Martin Schneider (men’s team IV), Christian Hölzlwimmer (men’s team V) and youth coach Hannah Mayerhofer, plus Stefanie Kolb (keyboard), who skilfully provided the musical arrangement.
Reinhard Kroll addressed the first half of the 2013/14 season: the 1st team sits in the strong district league 1 with 9:9 points in secure mid-table in 7th place, and will have nothing to do with either promotion or relegation – this offers the opportunity possibly to field more young players. The 2nd team (already with one of the “youngsters”, Johannes Apfel) has contact with the top of district league 2 with 12:8 points and 4th place – a good performance, all the more so as it was the only team to beat league leaders Eggenfelden. The 3rd team sits in district league 3 with 14:4 points in 2nd place; this young team – Albin Abdulahu (18), Matthias Kolb (18), Simon Wasmeier (17), team captain Kristina Kurz (25) – is playing outstandingly, all of them with good to very good individual records. The 4th team is top of district league 4 North: league leaders with 18:0 points – the team around Martin Schneider is playing a quite outstanding season, the “oldies” are very strong. The 5th team sits in district league 4 South with 9:9 points in 5th place – there too there are good performances on record, and the goal is in any case a positive points account.
The “TT youth”, whose pleasing results youth manager Beate Brandl had presented at the end-of-year celebration of the TT youth, in brief: two winter champion teams, another promoted side and a third place after the first half of the season, plus fine tournament placings – a very good basis for further successes and ambitions.
Patron Kurt Vallée and TuS chairman Horst Lackner expressed their appreciation to the players for their sporting performances and thanked those responsible for their voluntary commitment and especially for the great youth work – they wished all the teams a successful, and the players also an injury-free, second half of the season. Section head Wilhelm Kolb thanked the board members and team captains for their commitment. His thanks went to Stefanie Kolb (keyboard) for the outstanding musical accompaniment and framing of the celebration. For “twenty-fourteen” the board wishes all members and their families much luck and good health. – lb
