With 26 participants, Albin Abdulahu successful in the singles and, with Tobias Rueß, also in the doubles.
Pfarrkirchen. At the youth club championship of the TuS “table tennis” section, 26 participants fought for the titles in the singles and doubles – the most successful of them was Albin Abdulahu, who secured a winner’s trophy both in the singles and in the doubles. For the TT section, the large field of participants and the ambitious commitment at the table reflect the good youth development work and give encouragement for the future.
TuS chairman Horst Lackner, who had opened the tournament together with the acting youth manager of the TT section, Beate Brandl, and watched a whole series of the exciting matches, also gained this pleasing impression.
Straight on, then, to the various competitions – it began with the doubles: in the group of non-active players, Markus Gyetko/Florian Fürstberger won the final against Martin Huber/Max Krause. In the doubles competition for the team players, Albin Abdulahu and Tobias Rueß ultimately came out on top in the final against Simon Wasmeier and Alexander Rueß.
The singles competitions:
“Students B” – final round: 1. Alexander Rueß, who had already won his first-round group, 2. Sebastian Flat, 3. Marvin Fischer, 4. Max Krause, 5. Michael Grashuber, 6. Wladislaw Gerlitz, 7. Tobias Gärtner, 8. Oliver Garwardt. “Students A” – final round: 1. Maximilian Espertshuber, who had also been at the top of his first-round group, 2. Max Grabow, 3. Stephan Ederer, 4. Adrian Niederhammer, 5. Florian Fürstberger, 6. Markus Gyetko, 7. Martin Huber, 8. Martin Schneider. “Youth” – the round-robin format produced a very close situation, so that in the end, with the top trio each on 5:1 points, the sets won were decisive for victory, and with equal sets the head-to-head record had to decide the next two places: 1. Albin Abdulahu, 2. Johannes Apfel, 3. Matthias Kolb, 4. Simon Wasmeier, 5. Tobias Rueß, 6. Vladyslav Moschenski.
The end-of-year celebration with the awards ceremony took place after the tournament at the country inn “Zur Hecke”. “No matter which place you ended up with, you fought with great commitment”, said patron Herbert Horak, expressing his appreciation to all participants – he thanked the parents for making the sport of table tennis and participation in the club events possible, and the TT officials for running the event.
TuS chairman Horst Lackner was equally pleased about the large crowd of participants and the great zeal at the table – “as we have seen, the play was full of joy and great ambition”. His thanks went to those who made this a day for the children and young people: youth manager Beate Brandl, Hannah Mayerhofer and Marion Fuchs, as well as tournament director Gerhard Erl.
Now it was Beate Brandl’s turn to thank a long-standing active player, coach and official of the TT section for this great commitment – namely her predecessor in the office of youth manager, Karin Stemplinger, whom she also had to bid a warm farewell and to whom she presented a gift from the section. Karin Stemplinger has been active in the various roles for the section and the TT youth for a good 30 years, 20 of them in the youth management – for which TuS chairman Horst Lackner also thanked her very warmly. “It really was a wonderfully crazy time”, Stemplinger admitted, visibly moved.
Beate Brandl also thanked Felix Moschenski with a gift; for many years he had looked after the 4th boys’ team as team captain. This task has been taken over by Eugen Flat and Anita Farek – thanks go to them too.
Patron Herbert Horak, TuS chairman Horst Lackner and acting youth manager Beate Brandl presented trophies to the first-placed players, a special trophy to Nina Schneider as the only girl in the tournament, and certificates and a small gift to all participants. Section head Wilhelm Kolb’s appreciation goes to everyone for their sporting commitment – he congratulates the winners on their successes.
To conclude, the state of affairs for the TT youth after the first half of the 2012/2013 season: the 1st boys’ team (Apfel, Kolb, Wasmeier, Abdulahu – manager Sebastian Angloher) is comfortably in first place in the district league 2; the 2nd team (manager Christian Reitberger) achieved second place in district league 1 – the 3rd team (manager Rainer Bloch) had to settle for sixth place and continues to play in district league 2; the 4th team (manager Eugen Flat) reached third place in district league 2.
The board extends its warm thanks to all the committed youth managers, team captains, coaches and helpers, and, looking ahead, wishes them continued success in the second half of the season – training resumes in the new year on 9 January! – lb
