The club championship of the table tennis section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen in the Alexi gymnasium offered exciting and good sport right up to top-class “duels” at the tables – Manfred Schille took the winner’s trophy in the singles after he had already won the doubles competition together with David Bleidt.

The breadth of the field of participants across all age groups, combined with the open draw in both the singles and the doubles, provided excitement and a lot of fun. After the welcome by TT section head Wilhelm Kolb and TuS chairman Horst Lackner, a silent moment of remembrance was held for sporting comrade and founding member Rudolf Sussmann, who passed away at the beginning of November.
Horst Lackner had made the draw under the attentive eyes of tournament director Gerhard Erl, whom Rainer Köstler supported in running the club championship. The TuS chairman and section head Kolb wished the players and the one “Amazon” much success – “here we go”, starting with the doubles competition.
The pairing of Manfred Schille/David Bleidt deservedly prevailed in the final against the combination of Armin Siebengartner/Hannah Mayerhofer – the winning doubles had beaten Christian Hölzlwimmer/Norbert Reinelt in the semi-final, while the runners-up had knocked Marius Jarzombski/Martin Schneider out of the competition.
This time the open draw for the singles tournament did not produce a cluster of favourites in one group but rather a somewhat “better” distribution – just as chance would have it. In the quarter-finals, Manfred Schille (against Albert Gschwandtner), Armin Siebengartner (against Andreas Maier), Gregor Jarzombski (against Uwe Neubauer) and Marius Jarzombski (against David Bleidt) advanced.
In the semi-final it was the end of the line for Armin Siebengartner against Manfred Schille; in the Jarzombski family duel, Marius eventually clinched victory over Gregor in the fifth set – “a hard piece of work”.
In the small final Gregor Jarzombski took third place against a bravely, but ultimately in the fifth set vainly, resisting Armin Siebengartner. The final was won by Manfred Schille, playing thoughtfully with power and tactical intelligence, against last year’s winner Marius Jarzombski, and he took the challenge trophy.
Section head Wilhelm Kolb and TuS chairman Horst Lackner carried out the awards ceremony – for the top places there was a gift voucher to go with the certificate, and with the presentation of the winner’s trophy to Manfred Schille the tournament was officially over. There was still celebrating in a cheerful get-together. The board of the TT section extends its thanks to Manfred Schille for organising the club championship and providing refreshments, to Gerhard Erl for the smooth running of the tournament, and to Wigbert Bichlmeier and the other helpers for their support.
The recognition of the club and section leadership also went to the two best doubles: Manfred Schille (2nd from right) and David Bleidt (right) ahead of Armin Siebengartner and Hannah Mayerhofer.
