Pfarrkirchen. “A large field of participants, lots of joy in table tennis and exciting matches” – the verdict of tournament director Hannah Mayerhofer and youth manager Beate Brandl after this year’s Mini Championship, which the youth team of the table tennis section of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen held in the Alexi hall, was almost entirely positive.
The strong applause from the large group of 20 children (three girls, 17 boys) as well as the parents and friends who had come along and also followed the course of the tournament with excitement confirmed it: a great TT youth tournament.
Girls and boys born in 2000 or later who had not yet taken part in official competition were eligible to enter. There is always room for improvement, of course: only three girls took part, which could be built upon – and the comparatively lower turnout in the two younger age groups might also give food for thought.
Youth manager Beate Brandl thanked everyone who contributed to the successful event, first and foremost tournament director Hannh Mayerhofer, youth coach Gerhard Erl and coach Marion Fuchs – as well as the youth players who acted as scorers and took care of setting up and taking down.
To great applause, tournament director Hannh Mayerhofer, together with the representative of the local VR-Bank, Melanie Zauner, carried out the awards ceremony of the “30th Mini Championship”. The VR banks support the table tennis tournaments for young players nationwide with prizes. Thanks to the sponsor, all participants received not only a certificate but also a gift, and the winners received nice trophies. The top four in each age group have qualified for the next-higher tournament at district level, which will take place in early 2013.

11 and 12 years: – Girls: Claudia Farek (Arnstorf); – Boys: 1. Heinrich Sparwasser (Pfarrkirchen), 2. Elias Hölzl (Bad Birnbach), 3. Michael Grashuber (Pfarrkirchen), 4. Simon Niedermeier (Pfarrkirchen).
