On thrilling and tranquil trips to the heavens.
Pfarrkirchen. As a crowning conclusion to the season and recognition for the sporting successes in the completed campaign, the youth management of the table tennis department of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen organised a three-day excursion for the table tennis youngsters, who won two championships in the district leagues (promotion of Youth I to the 2nd District League, promotion of Youth IV to the 1st District League) – youth coordinator Beate Brandl, coach Gerhard Erl and coach Hannah Mayerhofer travelled to the Allgäu with 18 young table tennis athletes in order to be really catapulted into the sky and to experience the most thrilling loops at dizzying heights: from the Ottobeuren youth hostel it was off to Skyline Park (near Bad Wörishofen). In this large amusement park with many riding, roaring and spinning attractions, the children and youngsters had a great deal of fun. “Pure adrenaline, thrills, racing pulses and breathless suspense” rightly describes the attractions Sky-Wheel (Europe’s highest overhead roller coaster), Sky-Circle and Sky-Shot and -Jet – white-water ride, Bob Racing and Nautic Jets, etc. etc. – “simply great, one should live nearby and have a season pass”. After the exhilarating experiences as sky-stormers, the youngsters went on a rather more tranquil trip to the heavens, namely in the planetarium. In addition, the late-Baroque Basilica of St. Alexander and St. Theodor was visited; the church of the Benedictine abbey of Ottobeuren is, with its impressive dimensions and its magnificent artistic decoration, a more than worthwhile building – here too, in a Christian form and depicted in paintings, the heavens open up.
