Honours for sporting achievements and special merit.
Pfarrkirchen. At the table tennis district assembly of the Rottal table tennis district in the town hall, district chairman Sebastian Bichlmaier (Massing), besides the necessary handling of the formalities, had the pleasant task of carrying out special honours on behalf of the Bavarian Table Tennis Association (BTTV). “In this way, on the one hand a great achievement at sporting level and on the other hand voluntary commitment in the table tennis association can be fittingly acknowledged”, Bichlmaier emphasised with regard to the awards. The district chairman presented Josef Schied (table tennis department head of LAC Arnstorf), who was match director of the 1st District League for 15 years, with the BTTV’s honorary pin in gold “in recognition of special merits for Bavarian table tennis”, as well as Helmut Köstler (TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen) “for 50 years of competitive sport” with this BTTV performance pin – for Köstler a particularly nice conclusion to five decades of table tennis! With the BTTV award, Bichlmaier presented in each case the corresponding certificate of the Bavarian Table Tennis Association, signed by president Claus Wagner. Willibald Bauer of LAC Arnstorf, who would likewise have been awarded the BTTV honorary pin in gold in recognition of his decades of voluntary specialist-officer work in the Rottal table tennis district, will have his award delivered by a sports colleague, because he himself was unfortunately unable to attend. The honourees were also congratulated by the practically just-still-in-office mayor Georg Riedl and the town’s sports officer, TuS chairman Horst Lackner – combined with recognition for the respective achievements.
In his welcoming address, Riedl acknowledged overall the extensive voluntary commitment of those responsible in the clubs and thanked them for their great dedication, which creates so many sporting opportunities especially for the youth. Lackner highlighted, among other things, the diverse grassroots sport and the successful youth work in the clubs as the basis for higher-level sporting successes.
The Rottal table tennis district currently comprises 22 clubs, which field 93 teams for the match programme – 70 men’s teams and 23 youth teams. Girls and women can so far, if no team can be formed at the club, play in association and district leagues as well as in cup and team competitions with the boys and men respectively. After the board and treasurer’s reports, the table tennis district assembly unanimously granted discharge to treasurer Kai Münichsdorfer (Aidenbach) and then adopted the budget planning for 2015. In addition, the hosting of the ranking tournaments, singles/team championships and cup rounds to be carried out was awarded to the clubs interested in staging them.
