“Fourth team” of the TuS champions of the 4th District League North Pfarrkirchen. The men’s team IV of the table tennis department of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen claimed the 2013/14 championship in the 4th District League North with 34:2 points and was ultimately able to keep its rival for the top spot, DJK Geratskirchen III (30:6), clearly at a distance – both teams now move up to the 3rd District League.
The “fourth team” of the TuS had even been able to keep the first half of the season free of dropped points, but even the two early draws in the second half of the season were able neither to slow the momentum nor to endanger the championship – successes came again in series, mostly very clear (thrashing) wins, right up to the championship. And runners-up DJK Geratskirchen III too had to accept their only defeat in the second half of the season against TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen IV, losing 5:8 at home.
The TuS team was able to bring several success components to bear: both the top players Albert Gschwandtner (overall record 24:7) and Martin Schneider (25:10) as well as other strong performers such as Helmut Köstler (18:7) in his now really final season, Andreas Maier (14:3) and Christian Jagdhuber (12:2) each made their contribution in the successful battle for the title – also really throwing themselves into it for the top spot in the “fourth team” were Rainer Appelt (8:0), Hannah Mayerhofer (5:1), Christian Hölzlwimmer (4:2) and Markus Moosbauer (1:0), who would nominally belong to the squad of the fifth team.
“This time we absolutely wanted to achieve promotion and also become champions – with ambition and all our strength – and the season was really good fun”, stresses team captain Martin Schneider, who together with Helmut Köstler also kept an immaculate clean sheet in the doubles (10:0).
The board, headed by department head Wilhelm Kolb, warmly congratulates the 4th team on the title and the promotion – heartfelt thanks go to team captain Martin Schneider for his organisational skill. Already here the board wishes the team good luck and success in the 3rd District League. – lb
