Pfarrkirchen. The boys’ team I of the table tennis department of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen secured the 2013/14 championship in the 1st District League in the decisive final match of the second half of the season against runners-up TTC Eggenfelden I with a 7:7 draw – and thereby moves up to the 2nd District League.
In contrast to the first half of the season, which was free of dropped points, the boys did indeed lose a single point in the “final sprint” of the second half of the season, which, however, in view of the championship won, did nothing to dampen the joy. Team supervisor Walter Fischer is really proud of the core quartet Maxi Espertshuber, Max Grabow, Marvin Fischer and Tobias Rueß – “a great performance”, he is hugely pleased about the successful course of the season and congratulates everyone on the title. This also applies to Elias Hölzl (Boys II) and Simon Hölzl (Boys IV), who stepped in when they were needed and also made their contribution to the team’s success.
For the second half of the season of the 1st District League boys, the curious constellation of three Pfarrkirchen and two Eggenfelden teams plus LAC Arnstorf 1978 and DJK-ASV Stubenberg had arisen. Eggenfelden I broke through the TuS phalanx with second place, thus relegating Pfarrkirchen II and III to third and fourth places. On behalf of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen, table tennis department head Wilhelm Kolb first praises all young table tennis players for their commitment, “because our sport needs a broad base and the youth should have fun playing table tennis amid all the ambitious striving for performance”. This joy in the game must not be lost even in sporting competition.
The special recognition of the board and of youth coordinator Beate Brandl goes to the 1st boys’ team, which claimed the title with playing strength, staying power and a strong middle order – “warm congratulations to the boys and also to the team supervisor on the title and the promotion”. Heartfelt thanks go to Walter Fischer for his commitment in the youth sector and his dedication to the 1st boys’ team. With the Boys I team, TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen will once again be represented in the 2nd District League next season – a new challenge from which the young players can also grow. – lb
