Pfarrkirchen. To round off the season, the table tennis department of TuS 1860 Pfarrkirchen celebrated – as recognition for the sporting achievements in the past season, there was a joint barbecue for children, youth and adults at the TuS sports clubhouse. Beforehand, the table tennis youth had taken a trip to the slide paradise Galaxy at the Therme Erding. While a lot of concentration on serve, topspin, spin etc. is needed during training and competition, the motto for this trip was to have lots of fun together – with the trip to the slide paradise, youth leader Karin Stemplinger had chosen a destination for the 30 children and young people that thrilled everyone. Among 18 slides with a total length of 1400 metres, after all, everyone finds their favourite routes. Also part of the supervision team were Gerhard Erl, Beate Brandl, Marion Fuchs, Markus Jagdhuber, Christian Reitberger and Hans Stemplinger. Depending on age, highlights such as Good Vibration (wobble slide), Wild River (white-water slide, 185 metres), Space Bowl (funnel slide, 70 metres), Black Mamba (tube slide, 145 metres) or Speed Racer (130 metres, timing, effects) were on the agenda – the bigger and braver ones also threw themselves down Europe’s longest slide, Magic Eye (space effects, 360 metres long with a 22-metre starting height), the nosedive slide Kamikaze and the high-speed turbo tube X-treme Faser (up to 72 km/h and up to 3 g). Wherever the children and young people whizzed down, the supervisors tried it out too – and vice versa, as far as age allowed. However, some adults always kept an eye on the children. It was a wonderful day of exuberance and “galactic” experiences for everyone – “simply great!” Hardly back and arrived at the TuS clubhouse by the racetrack, there was grilled meat, sausages and salads. In the meantime a whole series of players from the men’s teams had also joined, so that grill master Manfred Schille had plenty to do. TuS chairman Horst Lackner also paid the TT department a visit at the end of the season and wished all players much success in the next season – with the TuS boss the “neutral” scorekeeper for the table tennis quiz was also found straight away. The department management extends its heartfelt thanks to the youth coaches and supervisors for carrying out the trip, to Gerhard Erl also for a tricky TT quiz in which the youth left the adults behind – and very especially to Manfred Schille for the grilling! A successful end to the season, everyone agreed, especially as its lovely evening for the adults went on pleasantly for a good while longer. – lb
