In recent weeks both the singles and the team championships of the seniors took place, and this time there was a title for the players of our department.
Ulli Hosse, Günter Krawutsche and Marius Jarzombski won the Lower Bavarian championship uncontested in age group I – 40 years and older – in Kelheim; in the “everyone against everyone” system there were 4 clear wins. While it could already be expected of Ulli and Günter as Oberliga players that they would play successfully – both remained unbeaten in both singles and doubles – Marius also surprised with wins that were not necessarily expected, well done. The photo shows the 3 successful players who will represent our department at the Bavarian championships in mid-April in Neunkirchen/Upper Franconia.
The players Manfred Schille, Peter Wolfrum and Rudolf Sussmann had it, as expected, hard in age group II – 50 years and older. They fought outstandingly, but unfortunately both matches were lost 2:4. Our age group III did not take part this year for a variety of reasons.
The championships in the singles competition, which took place in early January in Straubing, unfortunately brought no title, although one could already have reckoned with it here. In the 40 years and older class, Ulli Hosse from our 1st team unfortunately lost in the final in the 5th set in extra time, and with his partner Günter Krawutsche it was also not enough for the title in the doubles; here they were knocked out in the semi-final and thus finished third.
In age group II no player of ours was able to recommend themselves for the Bavarian championship, but Norbert Reinelt qualified in his age group of 65 years and older as third for the championships taking place in February in Nittenau/Upper Palatinate.
