Pfarrkirchen. Last Sunday the boys’ Under-15 A players of the table tennis department of TUS Pfarrkirchen, in the line-up Vladyslav Moshenskyy, Mario Pfannenstein, Johannes Apfel and Simon Wasmeier, became Lower Bavarian champions in a nerve-wracking final in Schönberg.
This competition is open to players born in 1996 and later, whereby players born in 1998 and later could in principle also form their own team to compete as Under-13 B. The final took place at a neutral venue, namely in the gymnasium of TSV Schönberg (Passau playing district). Here the TSV Mamming (Landshut playing district) awaited the players from the district town as their opponent. The thriller was to last almost three hours.
From the start neither team gave anything away, as after all every single point could prove decisive. After the doubles, both of which went the full five sets, it stood 1:1. Neither team was able to pull away in the period that followed. It was 2:2, 3:3, 4:4 until in the end 7:7 stood on the scoreboard. Since the sets were also level at 27:27 in the end, it was a matter of waiting until the individual points were counted.
The jubilation on Pfarrkirchen’s side was great when the referee committee announced the result. With 522:475 points they had come out ahead and may now represent Lower Bavaria at the Bavarian championship. After more than 15 years, Pfarrkirchen can once again send a team to a “Bavarian” championship. The whole department congratulates on this great success! The Bavarian championship takes place on 14 and 15 May 2011 in Hirschau in the Upper Palatinate. The whole department will keep its fingers crossed for the Pfarrkirchen boys!
